| On Tuesday we went for our first project
to a farmhouse in Ala-Temmes. Compared to other farms in the area it is
a really big farm. The farm is about 200 years old and you can find a long
tradition on this farm. The farm
has always remained in the same family. Now it is the seventh generation
that does the work on this farm. The name of the family is Pietilä.
The line of business of the Pietilä company is agriculture. The main plants of their crop are seedpotatoes and grain like barley and oat. When you are eating at the Pietilä farm or some of their products you can be sure to that you are eating pure food. The farm has many international contacts with Japan and Russia. The area where the farm is located is very interesting because it is one of the five High grade production areas in Europe. It means that they are able to produce the vegetables and grain without any diseases.
